Players Recover from Injuries for Upcoming Matches
Arthur Gomes and Rafael Bilu have recovered from their injuries and are available for the next game. Mateus Vital and Dinenno remain unavailable this season. Marlon, suspended, will not play against Cuiabá next Thursday.
Cruzeiro has regrouped from their 2-0 defeat to São Paulo last Sunday at Morumbi and resumed training this Thursday. Due to the FIFA international break, the players were granted three days off. Rested and prepared for the upcoming matches—despite being out of the Copa do Brasil—Cruzeiro is still competing in the Copa Sudamericana and the Brasileirão. Coach Fernando Seabra has received some good news.
Both forwards, Arthur Gomes and Rafael Bilu, have recovered and participated in Thursday’s training session with their teammates. They are now available for next Thursday’s match at Mineirão against Cuiabá. Arthur Gomes is set to return to the starting lineup after missing two games. It’s worth noting that Gabriel Veron replaced Arthur in those two matches. Thus, Arthur’s return to the starting lineup is expected.
Rafael Bilu’s situation is a bit different. Although he is highly regarded by the coach, the forward has been sidelined since May 7, 2023, due to an Achilles tendon rupture. Therefore, lacking match fitness, the technical staff believes he will need more time to return to the physical level of his teammates.
Even with these updates, Seabra still faces challenges in assembling the team. Mateus Vital is transitioning from physiotherapy to field training following shoulder surgery. Another player, Dinenno, is still in the early stages of recovering from pubic surgery. Marlon, who was sent off against São Paulo, is suspended for the game.
